VIK
Born in 1985, he grew up across Nepal, moving between cities and villages.
Early exposure to the country’s cultural and geographic diversity shaped his eye and style drawn to people, daily rituals, and quiet, fleeting moments.
Now based in Prague, he finds himself once again observing from the margins.
The unfamiliarity of a new city led him to walk, to watch, and eventually document.
His photography reflects this outsider’s gaze, focused not on spectacle, but on stillness, atmosphere, and presence.
He works exclusively in black and white. Using digital cameras paired with vintage lenses, his process is instinctive and unhurried. He prefers to remain invisible, capturing what unfolds without interference.
His long-term series Prague in Monochrome is an ongoing reflection on life in a city that is both distant and intimate. Whether photographing in Nepal or the Czech Republic, his work is less about what’s seen, and more about what’s felt.
